Anxiety is a form of either physical or emotional stress where a person worries about the future or what might go wrong. It is a normal human reaction that everyone feels from time to time, but it can be debilitating in extreme cases. Symptoms of anxiety include nervousness, uneasiness, worry, tension, restlessness, and concentration problems. Various factors, such as drug use, drug withdrawal, an overactive fight-or-flight response, and general heightened learned behaviors, can cause anxiety. Children with a family member suffering from anxiety have a higher risk of developing anxiety. Children with anxiety tend to suffer from insomnia, fatigue, restlessness, and a lack of concentration. Parents should stay as composed as possible to help their children stay calm as well. In extreme cases, consult a mental health professional or seek therapy to treat the anxiety.
