Cannabis, commonly known as marijuana, is a drug that originates from the cannabis plant. It is used for either medical or recreational purposes and can be ingested in various ways, such as smoking and vaporizing, or it can be mixed with food. It is more effective when smoked because its effects can be felt within minutes. If eaten in food, the effects occur within thirty to sixty minutes and last for three to six and a half hours. The intensity of its side effects depends on the amount of usage. Cannabis can cause addiction, behavioral problems, decreased mental abilities, and, at worst, psychosis for those who use it frequently and for an extended period of time. It also causes behavioral problems in children whose mothers used it during pregnancy. Other side effects include red eyes, dry mouth, paranoia, anxiety, and impaired motor skills.
