Diabetes

Diabetes in pregnant women is usually referred to as gestational diabetes. In gestational diabetes, women develop high blood sugar in the middle and later stages of pregnancy. It may or may not be the result of a previous history. However, genetics is the main cause of gestational diabetes, so the condition can be passed down within a family. Excess body weight and lack of physical exercise during pregnancy may also cause diabetes. The main symptoms are frequent urination, increased hunger and thirst, and tiredness. Gestational diabetes may cause complications, such as kidney disease, stroke, cardiovascular diseases, premature birth, or birth defects. Diabetes can be prevented or cured by eating a healthy diet, engaging in regular exercise, and maintaining a healthy body weight.
